GET IN THE HOUSE

A unique event where queer makers can try out new ideas, build community networks & connect with industry professionals. GET IN THE HOUSE platforms some of the most exciting LGBTQIA+ voices testing out 5-10 minutes of new material and is emceed by some of the hottest comedy hosts and played out by top queer DJs. Previous emcees have included: Kemah Bob, Shelf Comedy and Fagulous and DJs: Mwen and Sad Queers Club.

Our debut double bill of shows, Pink Lemonade by Mika Johnson and Since U Been Gone by Teddy Lamb, came through the very first GET IN THE HOUSE event in 2018. From sharing 10 minutes of their writing to a small audience at queer club space Her Upstairs (now sadly closed), Mika and Teddy developed their ideas in to full length pieces which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019 as part of an exciting co-production with HighTide.

Apply to GET IN THE HOUSE

We accept applications for ideas in their early stages from makers creating for theatre, TV and audio. Successful applicants are given a paid performance opportunity at a London theatre, a dramaturgy and producing advice from The Queer House, professional feedback from industry professionals and photo/video documentation of your work.

Whilst the work we consider is not limited to one medium, we have found that the format of GET IN THE HOUSE best suits live performance.

GET IN THE HOUSE is returning to theatres in 2020. Please check back for details on how to apply and for tickets.

GET IN THE HOUSE is funded by Arts Council England.

Such a fantastic night! Everything you would ever want from a theatrical night out. impressive and eclectic performances, true talent, and good vibes. It’s so refreshing to be in a safe space where it truly feels that anything is possible and you can celebrate and support each other wholeheartedly.

GET IN THE HOUSE was something so special. all the performers offered something brave, fresh, funny and different. and it felt like a community.
